A Digital Tool Prototype for Shared Decision Making in Psychiatric Contexts

The Integrative Model of Makoul and Clayman (2006) identifies nine key elements of shared decision- making (SDM), but no debriefing intervention in psychiatric contexts includes all elements (Froelich, 2023). This project focused on these elements, important patient and provider aspects in care and coercion decisions, and a digital tool for debriefing. Using co- design and participatory prototyping, it aimed to incorporate the nine SDM elements into a digital tool, hypothesizing improved patient motivation and therapeutic relationships. The project produced a low-fidelity prototype with wireframes, a storyboard, and a roadmap for further development.
